Yukatas are a nice thing.
But these aren't yukata they're kimonos.
Yukata are a light, linen summer garb.

i know what a yukata is dammit

Kimono are made a little thicker, and usually are worn with under clothes.
They're a little more ceremonial and therefore tend to have elaborate designs, especially in modern culture, where people will just wear "normal" clothes in everyday situations.

You'll see girls dress up in kimono wear for New Years shrine visits, for example, or for some marriage situations. Some political situations will also have them dress in them if it's a bit of a ceremonial situation.
Where as a yukata is -can be both loungewear, like something you wear after a bath or when relaxing in your house, or something you wear to summer festivals.
Either way you don't see a lot of guys wearing them outside of ceremony anymore.
