It was too much cliched tropes on top of really, really shitty animation.
Not the animation has gotten much better since but the rest of the substance has gotten more refreshing.

I can forgive bad animation and QUALITY but the story has to be compelling!

This is kinda unrealistic though because we know people will be buying robot girlfriends the second they're made to be vaguely human-like.

I wonder if what she has that amounts to a synthetic personality and consciousness can be considered enough to leave behind the point where you can still consider them objects.
If she is just a robot adopting the facimile of emotions that endear the owner to her, then yeah, she's just a robot.
But it really does feel like the actual scenario is a lot more complex than that.

She's lying about not having feelings, I think.

IF you look at the way she behaves, she reacts like a person.
She's even doing it here.

I mean you could argue that she's emulating emotions, but the counter-argument would be that she's emulating unnecessary emotions when she's acting shy and giving him the run-around and stuff.

If you look at her cohorts, they seem to have emotions and objectives of their own too since they're crazy psychos trying to kill everyone.

I think she's just straight up lying about being an object.
