the new router, for whatever reason, sometimes during the day just kinda locks up, and basically kills the connection for everything except my desktop specifically like the connection for basically everything else goes from 500mbit/s to like... I dunno, 60? I'm not certain how fast, exactly, because it's happening right now and I can't even check my speed on my phone with speedtest on google or nothing cause it just doesn't... start it's kind of a problem because I do not live alone, my dad lives here and is actually HERE more than I am cause I fuckin' work every goddamn day
I replug my own computer out and back into the router and we're good I gotta look at the logs and shit of this later and if there aren't logs to look at, I gotta make logs ideally I want the logs from the router, but I might have to settle on logs from my own computer specifically, going on an assumption that something happens with it at some interval, which I dunno, grabs exclusive fuckin' use of the network? That shouldn't even be possible, right? we don't have direct access to the router's systems, we gotta go through the ISP's website, I fucking HATE the modern world, I miss having direct access to my own fucking networking hardware
it's not even like it actually just, you know, throws the door open for my computer either like if I run a speedtest, I have the whole bandwidth to myself basically because every other device on the lan is choked out, but that doesn't mean it's... you know, good? on paper, I've got ~500mbit both directions, but if I try to upload an image to moe, it doesn't like, take it struggles with connecting to servers in the first place, it seems, though once it does, I have the whole bandwidth
and now it happens a lot I'm gonna have to unplug my network cable before I go to work
kinda reminds me of how things behaved back when I lived with my mom and they had a shutoff time on my connection set in the router it didn't ACTUALLY kill my internet, not outright, it just stopped accepting new connections to and from my computer So an active download would finish, even if it took hours, IRC would immediately crap out, but an online game would continue until I had a meaningful lagspike or tried to restart it, that sorta thing
maybe there's an issue with the cable there aren't any holes drilled for it, so while it's hooked up in the corner between the walls and roof, it does eventually have to pass through the door to my room, which means, obviously, if the door is closed all the way, it pinches a short section of it I can't say it makes all that much sense, like there's a few things I'd expect if that was the issue that aren't the case For one, if there's an issue with the cable, usually you'd expect the device hooked up to it is the one that doesn't get network access, not the ONLY one getting network access it would explain why it's begun happening recently though, as I've been closing the door all the way more frequently after the dog pissed on the floor right outside it a few weeks back, cause I don't wnat her doing that IN my room, where I fucking sleep, particularly cause there's a carpet covering most of the floor and getting dog piss out of that would be a whole endeavor on its own, seeing as everything including my desk and computer, the freestanding AC, my cupboard and one leg of my bed standing on the carpet

my job is grocery store I mostly sit the checkout, but I do the other stuff too when time and opportunity permits, or someone else wants to sit the checkout (omega rare) I dunno why, but I'm like the only one who actually prefers the checkout, everyone else would rather be on the floor and actually do real work It's super chill but I just don't get it, the register is the easiest job in the whole workplace, you just smile and chitchat and you get to sit down and you only really gotta do anything when nobody's buying something, and when there's a lotta people that's basically never I'm confused about it, but very happy I'm the only one who prefers it

i actually don't really like this project at all i think the way they're procuring data is jank and there's lots of bad data integrity going on the pay is also kinda jank. i get like $25 for completing a whole data batch which is probably like $15 an hour to do all the tagging, which is a lot lower than i'd like to be working for but separately from my personal opinion, that pay structure basically sets up the data taggers to rush throught // through the data tagging in order to maintain a reasonable rate
it's pricing out competent workers and those who actually care about this stuff basically recruiting just general taskers like mturk/fiverr class of people due to the low rates
it's kind of discouraging to do stuff like this because i want to actually be a part of something cool i have the knowledge base and work ethic to actually be like a role in deeper project management doing data integrity or something more useful than the mechanical tasking i just don't have any good credentials and my background is miserable
i have good ideas and i good at bridging across different fields/systems i wish i could like make my own things you know it sucks watching people who actually have money fumble around with bad ideas

not that i don't like doing individual tasks i loved doing audio transcription for example i like settling down into a predictable task environment but that's cozy on the scope of structuring your day's schedule i don't want that to be the only thing that exists ever decompress from one task and migrate to another as the project moves forward through the pipeline
