I mean, sort of Like, you absolutely can just gear up and skill up fast enough that you can be relatively comfortable despite the evolution level, but it requires a lot of early game hustling Like, the save isn't entirely cooked, I certainly am capable of salvaging it by just being careful, doing night time raids and slowly purging the small town nearby, but the issue is once I run out of bullets, then I kind of am actually fucking cooked
But you can make a camp, for sure yeah, it's part of the game's mechanics to make a faction with people tasked with doing misc work around the base, including farming, repairing vehicles, cooking (OK I don't KNOW if that can be automated), etc. Though, it does require meeting and convincing a lot of survivors to join your cause, and some are just outright hostile (and they usually carry firearms, so make sure you've got some form of ballistic gear on you when approaching, and a gun.)

I'm definitely still making the new character start with a katana, though It's just... it's just so fucking useful to start out with a fucking sword when you're going to be limited to melee engagements for the entire time between the start and whenever you find a good stockpile of guns and ammo But ninjutsu... I might have to just skip that, and rely on finding a skillbook for it later on Spend those points on something a bit more immediately useful instead, hell I could just dump all of those points into stat points outright, cause stat points (str, dex, charisma and perception) do not have a way for you to improve them through gameplay Though some traits would be nice Being unlikely to get addicted to stuff would really open up some playspace, since meth and crack and cocaine, as well as heroin and codeine, are obviously very useful things when fighting for your fucking life, with the downside being if you get addicted... like, you NEED more of some of those. With heroin in particular, quitting outright could straight up kill you, probably. Also I guess not setting up my base so far from the closest loot locations would be beneficial, save time on trips

in zomboid you can make a baseball bat last a lot longer by driving nails into it, because it makes repairs cost nails or duct tape, instead of just duct tape, and nails are WAY more easy to get a hold of than duct tape For that matter, now you can make nails, but duct tapes are a finite resource Not that this is a concern at all seeing as long, long before you actually run short on duct tape as far as the whole map is concerned, you'll have leveled up carving enough to just make your own baseball bats in v42

Who doesn't carry around every bank or credit card they've ever received throughout their 50+ year life? You'd be a fool not to lug that stuff around! THEN they finally pay, and go to pack their stuff up, and I have to tell them it needs their PIN code, which it does 100% of the time when the total is above 500,- and literally everyone above the age of 20 should know because it's been that way since tapping was introduced when I was in high school
