it genuinely is just true that while car drivers are genuinely often very dangerous and reckless, it's also the case that an unsettling amount of bike users have a fucking death wish and seemingly deliberately cause dangerous situations

personally I think not wearing a helmet is little more than unrestricted machismo and fear of looking effeminate it's not there to protect you from cars, the car will fucking destroy you either way it's there so when you faceplant due to a silly little guy (rock that's positioned slightly wrong in front of your tires) sending you spinning towards the ground

I mean maybe, but it's not even about the same thing Like I said, the helmet isn't likely to do much good if you get bodied by a car ultimately I don't really care if other people wear bike helmets, like it's their funeral, but I do think they're fucking idiots for prioritizing not looking goofy over protecting their head from the real possibility of the bike going a little wrong and slamming their face into the asphalt I've fallen off my bike, I've taken a tumble on roller skates. I'm alright because I wore my helmet and other safety gear. I mean shit, my left knee still to this day has a big patch of skin that'll never quite heal despite the kneepads from eating shit on roller skates when i was like 14 or something, it'd be a LOT worse if I wasn't wearing them, I'd probably not be able to use my hands that's for sure

You gotta wear a helmet here by law I hit some gravel going down a hill and came off my bike in high school. The helmet was totalled but my head was fine. Still got scars elsewhere though
