Like magic in skyrim is fun in concept, it's very pretty if you crank the graphics (for the time anyway) But actually playing a spellcaster in skyrim is a slog, a slog where you're weaker than every other playstyle, and also for the first like 30 levels every single one of your perk points are accounted for already or you will fall even further behind. It's a minmaxing nightmare just to remain viable. Which is just so fucked up because when you start the game, "mage" is very clearly communicated to you as being one of 3 kind of intended playstyles Also lmao the perk that makes the armor spells keep up with your leveling just doesn't work if you wanna use any of the dragonpriest masks specifically made for mages, because those have armor ratings and the perk doesn't do anything if you have any armor on
Also why does the clairvoyance spell exist? There are two types of quests in skyrim There's the kind where you have a quest marker pointing you to the gps coordinates of whatever you're supposed to press use on. You do not need clairvoyance here, every dungeon is perfectly linear and doesn't offer so much as diverging paths, I mean the only two examples I can think of that do have something like that are the ratway (the diverging path is actually the shorcut back you can kinda exploit your way to early) and an option to skip a small bend in a cave by jumping down to the bridge the walkway leads to directly. And then there's the kind where you're just kinda lead to a location and asked to do a thing, or you're collecting those fucking stones. Clairvoyance would be good here. A little goodie for those who invested in the magic to get the clairvoyance for stuff like this. Big issue: because there is no quest marker, clairvoyance outright doesn't do anything.

The occasional quests where you're not told what to do in skyrim suck ass honestly, and it's because there's like 5 of them and the rest of the game never gives you any reason to believe the solutions involved... like, are options
There is no fucking way someone plays skyrim for the first time, reaches the thieves guild quest where you copy with parchment and coal, and actually hit upon that solution. At no point in skyrim are you ever goin to do that again, at no point previous did you get the idea that solutions like that CAN exist in the game, because they don't.
