I actually figured out what the two warning mails Obake gets were too It was MISTAH BRAUN trying to warn him cause obviously he heard all their chatter about time machines and stuff, and really didn't want to get the order to, you know, deal with Okabe Though probably also in very large part he didn't want Okabe to find an IBN 5100
Finishing the time machine wouldn't be that big of an issue, it's not like he'd have to execute Okabe for that, seeing as SERN actually wants to use rather than eliminate those sorts of people if possible But if Okabe got an IBN, and Braun found out, he'd have to secure the IBN and then take himself out, leaving Nae all alone
But anyway in S;G0 the bit about Reading Steiner not being entirely unique to Okabe is expanded upon a bit, and it's kind of a seemingly big deal I don't know how this resolves in the VN yet, I'm still FAR from the true ending, I haven't even gotten an ending yet and I intend to get all of them and finish with the True Ending, but I can't imagine this is just something they dropped in without a resolution cooking
That and I suppose kind of obviously, the anime only concerns itself with the true ending in the first place Suzuha Route never comes up in the S;G anime, for example, because all the branches cut the story short at that point in time

Reality itself is rewritten, the simulation's reset to the time when the time traveling thing showed up, and then things play out from there And even that is seemingly not entirely accurate, there's no real reason \\\ information on whether timelines persist after sending something back to the past that successfully impacts events
I mean based on the information we do have about S;G's structure, it should be outright impossible for anyone without Reading Steiner to discover time travel in the first place. If the timeline persists, then they can only conclude they failed because nothing changed, and if it doesn't, the timeline changes to one where they never did whatever successfully changed the timeline, which we know happens with every single d-mail if nothing else Like if you succeed at sending something back in time, but your timeline keeps going, you have to just assume you failed, just like everyone did in the WW3 future of S;G0 Okabe did one final time leap, or tried to. But nothing happened. And so they lived with it, Okabe no doubt more confused and frustrated than anyone, since he's never been in a situation where the time leap machine was used and the user just remained there
I mean hell, canonically there's only one other person than him who even used it, and while it didn't activate reading steiner due to its seeming low impact on the timeline, said mystery user did "disappear" from his perspective, even though that's only because he's like, a fixture of the "active" timeline without it, he'd just see that certain someone standing over the machine like "what the fuck... it doesn't work anymore now?"

when I was in Japan lining up at the subway station ticket machine there was this youngish guy, dressed to the absolute nines. He would put most cosplayers to shame. When there's one god and only one god, it's kind of obvious that's the guy it's all about, but with polytheism you're all praying at a holy place, sure, but it's not necessarily to the same entity and your relationship with that entity within the theology is probably a bit less intimate than with the capital G God of monotheism, since it's one of several deities with their own shit going on Christianity's God doesn't have much going on except us, and Christianity doesn't have much except God going on, so I guess it comes up naturally more frequently

it doesn't do jack shit for you against hackers it does obscure your browsing habits from the feds though and it lets you browse netflix from a different country but those aren't really what it's being advertised as, the fear being sold in the nordvpn sponsorship isn't the feds looking at your browsing history, and they tend not to be explicit about being able to use it to circumvent copyright related restrictions
it does also, I think at least, technically provide some protection against MITM attacks, but like that's kind of patchwork, from what little I know anyway, it's not like it does all that much if they can pretend to be your bank, they can pretend to be the nordvpn proxy
all of this of course just ignoring that by leaps and bounds the primary method by which you get hacked is because you responded to [email protected] when they said they had to verify your password or you'll be banned
