For survival mode I always grab halu, glasses, and coat, but for stage mode, only the glasses have a real reason to exist, and if you don't get them relatively early you may as well just ignore them for something else that approaches their utility

Oh, I'm sure it has, yeah, but it's really cool how well it seems to have understood what kind of story and world I'm looking for, probably through my own "gameplay" and the sparse information in the initial input It could have easily gone off the rails and started assigning me a lot of like, significant and powerful spells, but it's kept it in line with my character surprisignly well

if you find a good way to track enough information and parse it to the AI, I'm sure you could already get even the free chatGPT to generate quests for you in skyrim, honestly I mean OK you won't have API access for free, but the model itself, I think it could do it Feed it into a mod properly and it could occasionally roll some dice or something to determine if an NPC has a new quest for you, and it could be basically anything you can actually do in skyrim Like, you enter a tavern and speak to some guy, and he's got a quest for you that's like "Wouldn't it be fucking sick if you killed a dragon using this steakknife I got from my dad?" and he gives you a damn dagger, and off you go

You could do a lot of the rolling for quest category and whether this or that is involved script-side, and just tell it the conditions of the quest, ask it for the NPC's dialogue and the branching choices if any, and the specifics of the quest. But yeah you'd have to coax it into giving you like, actually creative stuff rather than just basically feeding the input back to you in more words Making it stick to stuff you actually CAN do in skyrim would be a challenge too, to be fair DougDoug has done stuff like this without actually plugging it into the game before, and sometimes he just has to go "OK, I can't physically do what it's asking, so I'm gonna do this similar thing and call that a quest completion"

For text adventures though, honestly you just gotta make an interface for it, and put together some constraints and rules to ensure consistency, both for the sake of making the game actually fun, and also to justify its existence at all. Cause I'm doing this stuff just, in the web UI, and it's real good so far. Maybe it'll start losing track over time of various elements and stuff, but you could actually remedy that script-side by occasionally asking it to summarize important stuff it has to remember, storing that in a text file, and then do that again periodically while feeding it the text file as well in that same input, so it compiles its own external memory

I wonder if maybe there's something in the back that essentially does that thing I mentioned earlier, compiling a running list of stuff it should remember and keeping its working memory on top of stuff that way AIDungeon does that, in one way or another, it's got "plot elements" you can manually enter, including a "story summary" that updates periodically with the gist of the story so far
It's really neat how you can basically get immersive loredumps via this thing in a way that doesn't really work for actual human-to-human rp stuff Like I can go into a book shop, pick out a book, and when I read it I can just go OOC: Please give me some passages from the book verbatim
