the "I isekaid into an otomege and maxxed out my level before entering the academy" anime is also very fun Lots of really enjoyable anime this season for sure it even has somewhat decently done romance
one of my favorites so far for sure
S C
this is the second otomege isekai where there's levels and resource management and stuff though, is that actually a common thing for otomege? they're VNs, right, so it seems kinda genre-clashing, but regular dating sim isekai don't seem to have those elements from what I've seen

I mean I do know of one actual dating sim where there are stats and leveling and stuff But that's SUPER old, for one and not an otomege

One weird thing about the level 99 final boss anime is how... poorly communicated the dark hair stuff is? Like the first time it's brought up, it's brought up as though the audience should be aware, but the main character somehow seems to be taken by surprise too, despite... literally living in that world for 15 years with pitch black hair and two chunks of coal for eye, AND also clearing the game You're 15 years old and grew up as nobility, but nobody in your family saw fit to mention like "oh yeah by the way, your haircolor and also our status in general

Isn't it kinda weird how isekai have their own set of tropes that are like, in theory supposed to be lifted from video games, but aren't even really that common in video games? Like monsters dropping magical stones you can sell for money and stuff like that
I guess it's a more "grounded" alternative to just having monsters drop coins outright, which is how it's usually done, but still, it's kinda weird how that particular solution is so widespread Log Horizon didn't even bother, it just went "yeah the monsters drop coins, there's lore and stuff about it too, and it's a plot element later"
Anno
You also have to remember a lot of these isekai pull not just from video games, but MMO video games, where the gold or monetary value from killing mobs is basically negligible and the real value are the item drops
S C
well yeah, that's true It's just kinda interesting
Anno
Most isekai are pure fantasy worlds but the otaku who write them are so addled in their MMO and video game brainrot that they can't envision a fantasy world that doesn't have some kind of video game meta-structure to it Log Horizon is the purest "fantasy world but also a video game" and all the others which incorporate some kind of video game UI or mechanic like classes or skills are a sliding scale away from it And then on the other end of the spectrum you have stuff like Honzuki or Mushoku Tensei where it's pure blast fantasy, no video games
S C
Log Horizon kinda managed to be so incredibly good because it actually leaned into it and didn't even pretend otherwise Just fully embraced "this absolutely was a video game, yes" all the way through
Also I'd say Mushoku Tensei isn't entirely detached either though The mere existence of the adventurer's guild is kinda a videogame trope at its core, even if otherwise Mushoku is pretty removed from those things And it does play a vanishingly small role, all things considered
Anno
I would say adventurer's guilds are more a sword-and-sorcery trope broadly in Japan, because material which is more derivative not of video games, but tabletop, like Goblin Slayer and the isekai about that guy who becomes a wandering paladin, both feature it
S C
oh, maybe so yeah oh, the paladin one actually also is pretty damn removed from isekai tropes, huh? Though it being an isekai at all feels kind of tacked on just to be able to put a very popular tag on it for visibility You could remove it entirely and honestly the story wouldn't need to change... at all really to accomodate it
thieves guilds too yeah are one of those... strange entities, notably absent in a lot of isekai actually, unless they deal specifically with a grand plot centered around it
Anno
It's kind of like how things like thieve's guilds have been commonplace in western fantasy for several decades now In fact the penny dreadfuls which inspired the basic worldbuilding fabric of Dungeons & Dragons have been around since, like the 70s or even 60s, I think But if you were to ask a modern nerd about thieve's guilds, they'd probably more cite something like The Elder Scrolls as where they think they they originated from Fantasy in all its niches throughout the world develop these kinds of tropes and then they show up in fantasy media be it novels, visual media, or games
S C
TES is definitely the most mainstream thing to have featured it prominently Though TES also handles it absolutely fucking tragically It's like they just didn't really know how to handle it
Their cities are too small for it to make sense, their existence is somehow at least fairly well known, and it ends up being like a classic mafia restaurant that everyone knows about but it operates cause they've got the "actual" ruling class in a vice grip, except the thieves guild also hides away in like, the fucking sewers for some reason Granted this is PRIMARILY an issue for skyrim, the BIG CITY in Oblivion actually felt large enough that it made sense for there to be a shady pseudo-rumored organized crime entity But like, Riverrun or whatever? Bro there's like 15 residents
Anno
The best depiction of a theive's guild is the one in Ankh-Morpork in the Discworld novels, where, true to their name, they are an approved and licensed guild by the city's dictator, and are the only people allowed to commit theivery in the city They even leave their victims with a receipt!
S C
like the morag tong, basically? Except thieves, not cutthroats
S C
it honestly is a shame how much of a step down skyrim was in a lot of ways from oblivion, even if it was also a big step up in many other, more important ways from a pure gameplay perspective Oblivion's cities and stuff felt way more real, but Whiterun is like kinda the capital of Skyrim and it's so small that for the longest time I hadn't a fucking clue where "the sky district" nazeem kept yapping about was, I wanted to go there and I kept looking around to see if there was like a special entrance or something Turns out it's just the
S C
the 5 houses up the staircase he usually asks you about it on
Anno
Whiterun feels like the capital, since it's the first city you (conventionally) will visit, and its center-ish location on the map makes it feel like a hub city of sorts Nevermind the main plot has you returning to it several times over The actual capital of the province is that city build on the rocky cliff in the northeast of the map Or if you side with the Nord supremacists, the city to the far east Er, the actual capital is the one to the northwest of the map, sorry
>>1111061 I can't remember its name, but the city on the far west of the map, the one that's built on old dwarven architecture, is pretty dense, if not big Since it's fairly vertical, being built along a valley or gorge I've gotten lost in that city several times because of how dense and twisty it is
S C
you even become a thane!
S C
oh right the moosehead shield one that one actually feels appreciably big, it's just kind of a shame it only feels like, literally big like it's got a lot of volume and area, but aside from the daedric mace sidequest and I think a booze temple sidequest, it doesn't have much to actually do I think I've never spent much time there at all, it's so out of the way and inconsequential if it's got content, I've ignored all of it I think, except I guess there is one dwarf ruin that you're made to explore as part of that big map-spanning quest that lets you get one special piece of moonglass equipment or whatever, the one with 3 options where everyone picks the circlet because it's genuinely busted OP compared to the other options while also occupying the least useful equipment slot
Like it lets you run 2 sign stones, I think? Which is crazy good, at least compared to the other options on offer
Anno
Really it's more just Whiterun and Riften are kind of small cities None of them are particularly big, so yeah, your original point stands, but Whiterun and Riften are by far the most meager
Anno
I think all the Elder Scrolls games, aside from the first which is generally just kind of a boring game, are games that have strong strengths and considerable weaknesses, or at least have had them emerge as time goes on I'm sure when it first came out Morrowind felt incredible, but I feel in contemporary times the graphics are excessively dated and the combat and skill system is incredibly clunky Oblivion is the last game I think where the majority of the content feels hand-moulded and I think the skill and levelling system is the sweet spot between Morrowind's clunk and Skyrim's blanching and simplifying for the lowest common denominator, but I think it suffers worse than Skyrim does for actually frustrating bugs and it too has aged very poorly as far as graphical fidelity goes too Skyrim does the best at making you feel like you're in an immersed fantasy world, providing that fantasy world has at most a thousand people to an entire imperial province the size of a small kingdom, and even if it's repetitive, it is rich in content and things to distract you at
S C
morrowind is a bit hampered by the fact that better graphics arguably make it worse, too, tbf it's actually really small, but the same fog used to reduce strain on the GPU is used to make it seem a lot bigger Which honestly is an incredibly creative way to turn a weakness into an asset >>1111063 The leveling in skyrim is genuinely fucking awful particularly for anyone wanting to play a mage God you're gonna fucking hate skyrim if you go in intending to be a pure mage build, god in heaven it's SO FUCKING BAD
S C
Oblivion actually had some mechanics that basically nobody ever interacted with, too
Like goblins, if you nick their Big Staff, will actually come for you to get it back if you don't kill their leader But because they're goblins, in a dungeon, and the staff itself isn't valuable at all, probably nobody has ever happened upon that mechanic, to the point I don't think it's entirely known if the mechanic was in the game and turned off in a patch, or if it was never turned on in the first place It's in there though, there's a mod that just flips the switch to turn it on
Anno
>>1111063 every opportunity, and hey, some times you stumble on something genuinely interesting. But it has the worst skill system of all the games, pretty much all fighting styles are performance-inferior to stealth archers, the guild quests are weaker than in previous iterations with maybe the exception of the Mage's Guild, and it's still a damn game that isn't aging great visually because Bethesda's engine is garbage for environmental design
S C
The mage guild questline being by far the most compelling in skyrim is, in my opinion, a bit of a drawback in itself Because being a mage SUCKS Leveling destruction takes a fucking eternity, and that's your only direct damage dealing option, while also eating mana so bad if you don't pour ALL your level ups into mana you're never gonna kill anything before you starve to death in real life conjuration leveling is only viable, at all, through cheesing the soulstone spell whatever it's called restoration leveling is.. also entirely only viable through cheese because nothing useful except healing is available for fucking ever, and healing only counts if you're damaged, obviously, so you're standing in a bonfire healing for actual ingame days like some fucking lunatic illusion is just shit, which honestly is just an unfortunate consequence of it being a single player video game
it's just so unfortunate how bad the magic is in skyrim I mean I've tried going magemode in Skyrim and every time I've actually become a stealth archer because even once I was deep enough into it to access the spell, the conjured bow RIPS in comparison to literaly everyhing else I've got available

I just really want TES VI to be good when it comes out Even if that's, like, four years from now Starfield hasn't exactly bolstered my confidence, but the fucking problem remains that no other studio seems interested in making an immersive fantasy life video game like The Elder Scrolls does So like, I'm stuck hoping it's good because that itch needs scratching for me
S C
they already announced it, so we might see it in our lifetime!
S C
TES definitely survives because it's like the only games out there that does 'that' It's not something an indie dev can really accomplish just due to the scope, and no other big studio is willing to take the risk in doing it as well
Sure there's stuff like BG3, and that was a big hit, deservedly so But BG3 is linear, turn based combat, yadda yadda it's great, but it's not 'that'
S C
it's kinda the same with fallout they're also the only games doing what they're doing, even if what they're doing is just TES except you've got guns instead of magic
Anno
I feel there's a non-zero chance the next Witcher game from RED could possibly lean into the immersive, "living-in-the-world" experience I don't believe they've stated if Geralt is still the playable character in it, and it could be you play as a customizable character Witcher like V in Cyberpunk And they could apply the Cyberpunk immersive experience to the Witcher fantasy setting It still wouldn't really be the open-world, free-exploration experience like TES is, but it gets pretty damn close, in addition to hopefully having a better set of stories to chase in the world as well

overlord does kinda the same thing, but for one it's limited to fairly small sections of Ainz' overall intellect, and it's basically never a crutch used to drive the story itself, it's mostly just a silly "hahah, he has no idea what's happening, and everyone thinks he does" thing on the side

Anno
Honestly the fact that your social ritual of being/not being called a nerd relies on an intricate understanding of a video's culture and learned knowledge really helps nail down how much of a nerd you are
>>1111207 Ok, so One of the in-game skills, Runecrafting, which allows the player to create their own magic runes to cast spells - has long been regarded as one of the least desirable skills due to its relatively low experience rates, grindy and repetitive training methods and overall limited utility. The fact is that in the time spent it takes to craft runes, it is almost always better to acquire them through any other method like buying them from an npc/other player, or else through loot drops. It's just never worth it. And training it (at least in the past) was essentially just a walking simulator where you're taking the essence backwards and forth from the crafting alter. In that sense, a lot of people used to meme it as the "worst skill" out of all possible 23 skills you can train in the game and level up. and then, an extension of that, the line "runecraft bad" is a meme in and of itself, just because it's an indication of an unoriginal thought, and kind of a parody of all the generic Hot Takes that people post on twitter or the dedicated Runescape subreddit. Now, the things which made Runecraft "bad' when the game was initially released don't even necessarily still hold true in the current state of the game. They've added a variety of new training methods and overall changes to make leveling runecraft more more enjoyable, more engaging and more rewarding. Even so, despite the changes, the stigma surrounding the skill is still present, and the idea that RC is a terrible skill is still kind of in the general zeitgeist of the playerbase. So that's one part of it. The next element you need to know about the game in order to call me a nerd is the mechanics behind skillcapes. Skill Capes are an equitable item that you can wear in the cape equipment slot, unlock able when you reach 99 - the highest possible level - in any given skill. Wearing them offers minor skill-related perks and small bonuses, but it's also just a bit of a "flex" to show other players

There's still a handful of talents in the branch who I do like and I'll continue to watch and support their activities, but I'm fucking done with the branch as a brand My only regret at it crashing and burning is it'll inevitably hurt the talents I like in the short term
S C
I imagine the organization itself will be fine For better or worse
People are obviously real pissed off about this stuff, but I don't think that like, matters longterm
Anno
If you're talking about the entire NIJISANJI agency, yeah, they'll survive. In Japan they're basically titans, competing in the same market share as Hololive NijiEN is, I think, in a far more precarious situation This has already had heavy short-term damage to their brand and activities, with a sizable fraction of their talents taking indeterminate hiatuses and some becoming the target of heavy public harassment campaigns (which unfortunately has probably grown larger than Doki herself can reign in) Pretty much every talent has lost subscribers in the thousands-count, with some losing as much as 5-8%, which, might not sound much, but a lot of these talents probably have "dead" subscribers who no longer actively watch their videos. When you're only getting 30,000-50,000 views on a stream most of the time, losing a few thousand to several thousand subscribers probably has a more direct impact on that viewcount, because most of those unsubscribing are likely to be your active subscribers who would've been tuning in to those streams
Additionally because NijiEN's management tried to smear Doki's reputation with artists, a lot of fanartists and collectives have officially stated they are no longer going to be working on NijiEN or NIJISANJI-related works. This doesn't have an impact on NijiEN's profit margin, not directly, at least, but it is indicative of a community excommunication of the branch, which dampens their social media spread and helps reinforce, in the EN Vtuber sphere of influence and community, that NijiEN is a bad place to work for. They recently ran auditions for an upcoming new wave of Vtubers, and one thing that'll be interesting in upcoming months is if some or all of those talents choose to bail on their contract before their streaming career at the branch begins
Ultimately this all is probably also intensively damaging to talent morale with who is still at the branch. NijiEN as a branch has seen a sizable fraction of its talent either graduate or

damn. word limit. [part 2, continued] Yeah so kill capes offer minor perks, but they're also just a bit of a flex to show you've maxed the kill out. Now, another relevant characteristic of these capes is the way they're "trimmed" . This happens when you have more than one level-99 maxed out skill. Trimming the cape changes the appearance of the item, and also very slightly boosts the stat bonuses (from memory I think it adds something like +4 prayer). Now back in the day, I think Trimming the Skillcape would have been an even harder form of flex - you're showing the world that not just this 99 skill is maxed, but my other skills are maxed too. HOWEVER, in the years since the game has been released, and increasingly more players complete out maxing skills, the Untrimmed variant became the bigger flex. Nobody cares if you max every skill over 6000 hours. But if you've got one skill maxed, while negleting *neglecting all others, it indicates a kind of.. disproportionate and misdirected passion, especially if it's one of the less-frequently trained skills like Runecrafting. You get massive perks in the game from maxing all skills (you can wear the Max Cape, which is unequivocally the best cape in the game) so most serious players will max runecrafting at some point. But - they'll do it well into the late game as one of the final skills the round out. It's almost unheard of to go for it early game as one of the first skills. Therefore, the untrimmed runecrafting cape is a relatively rare item and carries a fair amount of associated prestige.
Ok,.so that's the second part of the setup. Thirdly, I'm wearing the special designated armor that's only available to an Ultimate Ironman Player. Ultimate Ironman is a niche, very restrictive game mode. Players in Runescape have 28 item slots for things they're currently carrying in their bag. Everything else is stored in the Bank, which is basically a mass item storage accessible at useful points all over the game wo

>>1111215 terminate, and a lot of those who have left were some of the branch's most popular and successful talents. Mysta Rias, Nina Kosaka, Pomu Rainpuff, Selen; they were all talents with either high subscriber/stream view counts, or considerable stream engagement/superchat and membership numbers Of those who remain, the majority are talents with more niche communities, talents who have not managed to hit their stride yet, or talents whose skills are being mis-used or ignored by the agency. NIJISANJI takes a pretty sizable cut of the income talents get from streaming, and talents get a very marginal cut of the profits from merch, so if morale at the agency continues to be low, I could definitely see more talents consider graduation or otherwise fucking off as soon as their contract is up if they figure the loss of awareness from being in the agency could be compensated by getting a fuller portion of the income from their activities if they're an indie Nevermind that HoloEN has been doing spectacularly well with the debut of the Advent unit, and Hololive broadly both has demonstrably better compensation and resources for its talents and has handled terminations and graduations far better than NIJISANJI as a whole has
NijiEN has already called off a branch-wide Mario Kart tournament that was supposed to happen tomorrow "to focus on the well-being of the talents" which, in the face of what Doki went through, sounds like hotcorporatebullshit , but regardless, the fact that they could not get their talents to do the event shows that morale at the agency is still pretty awful This is definitely speculation but if morale doesn't improve, then it is much likelier that talents are going to increase the rate at which they abandon the branch, and a talent agency is only as profitable as the talents who can make content for it are. No talents, no profit
Which leads to the actual long-term concern for the branch. NIJISANJI as a whole has already dissolved three

[part 3, continued] So banks allow players to store hundreds of additional items, beyond everything they're currently carrying in their inventory slot. You could think of it like a storage chest if you've ever played Minecraft. The same kind of idea. As an aside - i was listening to a podcast interview with one of the original game devs the other day, and he said it was basically put into the game as a joke. They didn't think anybody would actually play it seriously when they added Ultimate Iron Man as an option. See Ultimate Ironmen (UIM) cannot use any of the banks. They get no additional item storage. They are limited to what they're currently carrying in their active inventory. This has a lot of implications on how the game is played... you can't ever really hoard objects or save anything for later. It's very restrictive in that sense, because a lot of the appeal of late-game osrs is hunting rare items getting best-in-slot gear. This is one of the reasons the game most isn't very popular. Rather than being able to hold on to hundreds of items, you're limited to the couple-dozen in your hands.

>>1111218 of its previous international branches, their Korean branch, their Indian branch, and their Indonesian branch. The Indian branch got the rawest deal, as all talents were let go and the branch's resources were repurposed for the NijiEN branch, but the Korean branch and Indonesian branches were folded into the main branch with its management and operations still entirely located in Japan This seems to have been an okay change for the Korean branch, possibly because of their proximity to Japan and the higher likeliness of its talents being able to communicate with the Japanese management, and the talents who have remained seem to have either had their quality of work remain level, or even improve in a few situations For the Indonesian branch however, it seems to have been a horrible change for the worse. They previously had Indonesian management who were passionate about bringing Vtuber content to the Indonesian weeb community, and they regularly arranged for the usual routine content of being in an agency; voice packs, birthday merch, sponsorship collabs. After they got folded into the main branch, they lost their local, Indonesian management, and instead had to rely on Japanese management, who seem to be wholly disinterested in actually managing the Indonesian talents, with none of the aforementioned content still being produced for the branch and all activities for the branch entirely reliant on the talents' ability to organize it. This has lead to a mass either firing or quitting of the Indonesian talents, with I believe over ten of their talents graduating last year, including one of their newest runaway success talents, and some of the oldest talents from the branch. Both the talents who have left and the talents who remain have been pretty vocal and bitter about being left to wither by NIJISANJI because the branch "isn't profitable"
So, unless NIJISANJI upper management has a change of policy heart, the concern for the NijiEN branch is, if they don't
Anno
>>1111221 make amends with their EN-watching community, and improve working conditions at the branch, the combined loss in viewers and community engagement, and damage to talent morale, may very possibly see the branch lose profitability through either income loss or valuable talents leaving At which point, precedence has already shown thrice the agency is more than happy to completely obliterate local and dedicated support for "failing" branches and fold talents into the main branch, which, if the Indonesian branch disaster shows anything, the distance and language barrier for English talents to Japan likely means a mass exodus of talents
As I implied above, I have no love for the NijiEN branch anymore, so I see this as an overall long-term plus for the talents at it, but it would be pretty awful from someone in favour of NIJISANJI In addition to the destruction of a branch which provides nearly 20% of the agency's total revenue, it would further reduce their available marketable regions, as they have already closed themselves off from India and Indonesia, and now would effectively decimate their ability to market to the global community in general. They'd be stuck with whatever profits they can muster within the Japanese and Chinese fan communities, which, while certainly sizable, is still only a fraction of what their competition has access to Which probably isn't ideal since ANYCOLOR, NIJISANJI's parent company, is a publicly traded company and relies on investor capital to field their projects and determine company worth
Anyway tl;dr I am much less confident than some people might be that NijiEN's refusal to course correct after this debacle would result in the branch continuing on in a healthy fashion

>>1111219 So you maxed a time-wasting skill on a game mode which extends the time needed to do literally anything, making this a timesink within a timesink Sounds like you want to get called a nerd you masochist
And now when you call me a nerd it actually hurts my feelings.

>>1111222 It seems the problem with NejjiEN, would be not acepting the other markets. Maybe their brand could retain love by having a diferent approach to management. It could benefit from a wide variety of multi national audiences. In being open to collaborations, new markets emerge. Showcasing a wide variety of talents.
S C
niji overall maybe, but nijien's biggest problem is treating some of their aidorus like shit and eating all their money like an 1800s industrialist
Anno
>>1111227 Most of the problems with NijiEN exist with the same branch, but they're mitigated by Japanese people being more acclimatized to Japanese corpo culture, and the fact that all of them can properly converse in Japanese with each other, which can probably help reduce some of the social toxicity ALSO, there are more resources available to Japanese talents. Japanese talents get 3D models and can use things like their capture studio. The Japanese branch seems to actually put in effort to market their talents and promote them through business sponsorships as well So, like, they don't treat their talents great, but they at least do more for them
>>1111229 ANYCOLOR's CEO has been pretty transparent that the company and agency is entirely him chasing profitable avenues, and to be fair, their profiteering strategy and mass-talent fielding has worked out well for them Where as with Cover, the tech was originally their first priority and Hololive was originally supposed to be a sorts of tech demonstration. It was only after it was evidently extremely successful that Cover pivoted to making Hololive a core component of their business strategy While Cover is also now listed in the Japanese Stock Exchange, they're not a return-on-investment stock, so there isn't a pressure from shareholders to cut costs and maximize profits like you see with "typical" stock companies
S C
That's just fucking horrifying How does this industry have two Big Boy Companies, one operated like a Taiwanese sweatshop and the other having a CEO the fans and idols treat like an idol onto himself, and they're both basically just as successful?
Yeah but did you read my story about runescape though that's the real question

oh yeah genshin skins are kinda expensive
Mahou Shoujo Marsh-chan
tbf they're pretty generous with their free gacha roles. Compared to other games
absolute territory enjoyer
yeah i think they have somewhat expensive prices but genshin is probably the best gacha game to play for free or cheap like buying rolls is almost ridiculously expensive but f2p or just buying welkin moon and battle pass gives a lot of value and genshin's gameplay is still good at its core without whaling

bang what do you think about her do you care her?
absolute territory enjoyer
obv im in it for the cute anime girls tho >>1111253 kazusa is cute i guess i like her hair cat ears are always a plus depicted as a loli a lot though, not really into that
i don't play blue archive so i don't really know much about her
S C
is she? I've not seen any of that unless you count any non-adult as loli, which I'd argue is dumb and I doubt
absolute territory enjoyer
i'm too lazy to look for another site besides danbooru or pixiv when i'm looking for images i guess pixiv is probably better than most but when i'm searching kemonomimi tag i see a lot of questionable kazusas lots of sifting through mud to find good images
S C
i get all my images straight from the twitter timeline but yeah I guess anyone visibly not an adult will inevitably be lolified
absolute territory enjoyer
90% of my image hunting is for cute kemonomimi anime girls to repost on a discord that exists for that purpose pixiv is the place to find the best images before any of the other posters there find them however they do but requires the most work danbooru requires the least complicated effort but lots of sifting
absolute territory enjoyer
but it's worth it
absolute territory enjoyerS C
I'm honestly just stunned at how fucking awful pixiv's tags are to this day they're not standardized at all, there's several tags for the exact same thing, and stuff like "favorited by x users" tags don't nest, so 500 favorite search will not show 1000 favorite tags
just horrid
absolute territory enjoyer
>>1111261 it's a lot of work searching for images on pixiv i feel or maybe it's just that i'm so picky
absolute territory enjoyerMahou Shoujo Marsh-chan
>>1111261 yeah. searching is garbage. the only thing that kind of works is Following good artists and seeing what they produce.
S C
I was never able to figure out how to only see the stuff they themselves post, rather than the stuff they like, repost or whatever term pixiv uses So I gave up on it
S C
favorite, I guess Pixiv doesn't have a 'repost' function, but favorites show up all the same so
Started up zomboid again, and using a big modpack adding a ton of shit I actually thought it was a new map, but it turns out I just randomed into spawning in an area I've never been before in all my time playing zomboid, cause it's so out of the way and I usually only pass by on my way to Louisville so I never went that far into the town
Never knew there was a fire station up here Good to know for the future I suppose, but it's not really that worthwhile
Anno
Every time I feel the urge to play Zomboid again I have to remind myself it's not that I want to play the game, it's that I want to play the game as it'll be when the next major update comes out Factorio is the exact same way
this modpak is heavy as hell though, goddamn launching the game takes an eternity Runs a little bit shonky once you get in game too, but that's probably just my computer being old and running through fucking wine basically more than anything
...I had actually forgotten I bought Kingdom Come Deliverance I already finished it, but I haven't played any of the DLC
So now I've bought that too
S C
It's honestly a very like, satisfying game You brew potions by actually brewing them step by step, dropping ingredients into the pot and operating the various things and the hour glass and everything (though once you've done it a few times it lets you auto-complete the process) Very chunky
I may own skyrim, and I replay it from time to time, but I could never see myself buying DLC for it
Anno
i played a bjt of theif back in the day.

but** was kind of cool exploring castels
S C
thief simulator is real fun too It's got like, a linear campaign where you go from specified house to house and loot specified stuff, but as you unlock new stuff you can use that to rob the other non-story houses too just for more money, and it's pretty fun
S C
I'm pretty excited about the A Woman's Lot DLC in particular for KC though You play as a femoid
I wanna use something other than a morninstar this time, too Maybe a fuckin' twohander I don't remember if there are mauls, but man I wanna use a maul if there are mauls When I played through the game originally, I ended up with the mace because well.. it's blunt and one handed, so you can use a shield and blunt weapons are just obviously the single best option when you're fighting someone wearing anything made of metal You're not getting a fuckin' thing done with a sword against someone in full plate
S C
meanwhile with a mace you just bonk them on the head and it doesn't matter how thick that helmet is, your whole gameplan is just maximizing kinetic energy delivered directly to domepiece and rattling their brain around, and that's gonna work just as well whether you make contact with the head, or just something in contact with the head

oh, two handed weapons in KC aren't like, sheathable you can't really "have" one, you can at most pick one up midbattle

Kirara "Ikkyū" 🍄 /人◕ ‿‿ ◕人\
apparently it just grows to connect circuits
Samu /人◕ ‿‿ ◕人\
maybe the slime mold grows stronger if there's more blood rushing past? i don't get the measurement mechanism
Kirara "Ikkyū" 🍄 /人◕ ‿‿ ◕人\
Basically you take a heartrate monitor and then you make it so it won't work unless you feed the slime mold that connects circuits allowing power to flow through it properly.
It's literally a normal smartwatch. It uses the same mechanism as my fitbit.
Samu /人◕ ‿‿ ◕人\
ohh okay the slime mold doesn't measure, it's just the power switch got it
Kirara "Ikkyū" 🍄 /人◕ ‿‿ ◕人\
yeah the slime mold is there to get people interested in their relationship to the watch it's some graduate student project not like a real thing
Samu /人◕ ‿‿ ◕人\
all these comparisons to tamagotchi hmm you could have a maze with like five different exits each with a conductor and a mini social network where each slime mold dish has a rating out of five of how strong it is today
Captains Log: Day 46 The voices in my head are louder. The angels whisper to me in my dreams WHERE ARE THE EARS can they be? Are they absent? I'm indifferent to the answer itself, but I need to KNOW.

well, the A Woman's Lot DLC is actually just a side quest where you play as the miller's daughter, and it's not like you get the full game except as a different character with a different story, it only covers the time between the start of the game and waking up at the miller's after the introduction
trenching is when he was on one of your jobs or managed it and his fuckups came back to bite you in the ass he's gone now but the waves still linger now trenching is having that photo on your desk for the week i guess a trenching in recent memory was the client and him had a disagreement and he ended giving them a ups for their design office deep lore

There's these 3 lads who want to brawl for money in the first city you get to in KCD, and I've just discovered something incredible If you beeline between them, you can knock them out and get them all to the arena together, which is nice because you can fight them however many times you want, and while the money is pretty meaningless due to how little it is, you do train unarmed, warfare and strength by fighting barehanded What makes it more incredible is a fight takes a LITTLE bit less time than half their recovery period from getting knocked unconscious, so you can just farm EXP like that by continuously beating the snot out of these guys
