Well the only real thing to hunt in terms of accomplishments is what amount of coins you can rack up in a single run 50K is by far the most I've gotten in one go, and most of it comes from Aki's main attack autotargeting so you don't gotta aim, which combined with the super chat making you autopickup all coins and the skull stamp making every hit by the main weapon have a 20% chance to drop a coin is real strong I'm sure I could even improve that score by maxing out Halu earlier to really crank up the enemy spawn rate

I actually did try to get into that way, way, way back in the day, but it just didn't vibe with me I don't remember why, really, there was just something about it that wasn't my speed Probably the incredibly granular skills and stuff, taking a guess I always did enjoy the concept of leveling skills in game by doing them, and grinding wasn't ever really something that turned me off until later in life, but I think the hyper-specificity of runescape's skills might have been what put me off Other games that do that stuff tend to generalize a little bit more, like Kenshi I fucking love Kenshi, despite it being a grind, and it's got a whole busload of skills you only level by doing, often by way of repetitive, not exceptionally engaging on its own, tasks But they're generalized too. If you level laboring to 100 by just mining for eons, that makes you extremely good at a lot of other, wholly unrelated "basic manual labor" type tasks The combat is probably the most granular of it, having separate skills for unarmed, blunt, blades, and heavy weapons, coming on top of general stats like strength, dexterity, agility, dodging, blocking, and a generic melee attack skill (which I think doesn't do anything for unarmed, strangely enough. If it does, it's a bit scuffed because you do not level that skill at ALL via unarmed combat) There's also ranged, but if memory serves, that's a single skill. Granted, ranged combat is... I think only crossbows, I don't think there are other ranged weapons, the only variation being there are better and worse crossbows available You can dual wield, too, but I don't actually think there's a separate skill for dual wielding

Stealth and thievery being separate skills is pretty rad though Just the idea of a master of stealth, one with the shadows and undetectable by mortal eyes going completely unnoticed throughout a house until the moment he picks up a vase from a shelf, at which point everyone in the building is onto him, is very funny Lockpicking being yet another separate skill from that again is cool too, though that's kinda normal, lockpicking tends to be its own dedicated skill in any games with skills and lockpicking I guess there's not too many other skills it transfers over to, even though I feel like there should be something you could group together with it

Man the combat sections of these things are always so mindnumbingly BORING the only one I've ever been really invested in was the one in CR2 where Nott made it out with literally 1 HP and nobody actually knew she was that fucked up until later
Like I get the combat is part of the fun of actually playing it, but watching it, the RP is all I really give a damn about I'm here for the story and characters and stuff, the combat is very uninteresting and takes too long, and it's usually kinda inconsequential because of the short duration of the stories anyway
I mean in critrole when Caleb sent a fucking disintegrate at a creature that absolutely could have reflected it and sent the whole fucking party into the shadow realm, that was consequential and genuinely an insane decision that worked out through sheer luck, but the only reason that had any weight was because of how long that fucking campaign was Episode 4 of 6, that wouldn't have mattered to any degree at all, you know?
really even when playing, the combat doesn't appeal too much to me I guess some of that is because I just prefer healing-focused builds in games, which seem to be a bit scuffed in these kinda games

I enjoy watching the earlier combat more than later combat in stuff like this, since the combat just scales in complexity and granularity as the levels go up, which slows everything down so much Early game combat is more simple with most players limited to moving, attacking, and onlya few spells or abilities for the whole in-game day
Plus if they can't reach into their wizard pocket and start dropping advanced spells, that forces the players to come up with crazy schemes Like Jester and Nott's fluffernutter wouldn't have been something anyone would've needed to think up if Caleb had his later levels spells
I mean yeah I can appreciate it when the combat is a vehicle for interesting stuff like that It's why I had a surprising amount of fun in the one little game I played where I purposefully built my character "wrong", picking a buncha dumb spells and shit, notably a silence bubble and a self-damaging necrotic heal Turned out our sniper's gun is actually real fuckin' loud, but that doesn't matter if I just dump the silence bubble on him and so we reduced a really tough combat to a relatively easy one, as he just clipped... most of the enemy combatants from absolute silence some 200 meters away That was pretty fun even though MOST of what I did during the whole combat was sit next to him and occasionally help him reload to save a round on it
Later I rushed up and nearly killed myself in a single turn to heal our big DPS guy It should be noted I literally picked the spell because it did have a chance to actually outright kill me if I rolled well enough It was not a safe spell, I didn't have the HP pool to guarantee my safety when using it, but that's what made it exciting to pick it up
I'm pretty sure the game was rigged so we were supposed to die at the end too, like REALLY supposed to fucking die, because we didn't get a refresh or anything between the big fight, and the end fight which was really tough But we did win, because again, we kinda trivialized the initial combat by me making our sniper into an undetectable, brutal killing machine
But really the most exciting part of it for me was I picked the silence spell as a joke, I was building a bad character on purpose, and it paid off by making me the damn MVP

Crown of Candy practically opens with combat, but this combat is actually kinda interesting because it literally starts by dropping one of the players to 1 failed death saving throw, before initiative Brennan can be scary
He really is incredible But definitely what made me care about this is how he went completely all out right from the jump with the battle This is episode 2 of fucking 16 and it could VERY EASILY have been a full party wipe like, twice over Hell I'm thinking that might have been the intent, or at least the intent likely was initially for one or two of the party to get cut down right then and there Cause MAN that was a lot of heat directed at ONE character
Overall though, Brennan's campaigns are always super interesting Lou as a player adds a lot of sauce to it too, though He just fucking nails this sort of larger-than-life character he tends to roll
Zac is also really good, but he's more subdued generally The backlight allowing the other players to shine I wish Matt would show up as a player more often though, even if being the GM is clearly what he's made for
Very hyperspecifically though, when Matt or Brennan gets to do a story set in the other's setting, that shit always goes absurdly hard Brennan's super prequel in Taldorei was fucking incredible The players of course did a lot for it, but Brennan's SHIT during it was just so good. A buncha small things like "the smile of exandria" or whatever becoming the shattered teeth, the extremely believable corruption of the paladin, all sortsa shit, it was just so good

OK how the FUCK does the grouping work? How do I consistently get not just one, or two, but the whole party to move as one? I group everyone into the same group, 3 members at present, I move a character, and SOMETIMES one other character moves with them, though mostly just the one alone, and basically never all 3 I don't get it

they are not stuck they are literally all 3 standing in the open, they are grouped, and they just WILL NOT MOVE AS A UNIT
our hot water finally got fixed but they also did the tiles in the bathroom so we have to wait 24hrs can't wait to have a shower the hot water always hasn't been great and dwindled down to the point of not working at all

Tried to apply an update, the crack for that didn't work so now I gotta reinstall WEH Maybe I'll just end up buying this damn game, it's fairly fun so far
iunno chances are I'll get bored of it fairly quick, but it's moderately interesting at least seems like the kinda game that's most fun with other people
the primary reason I think that is really just how overwhelming it is to manage several characters with a fuckload of abilities each, and all of them are like "oh this one is a bonus action, this one uses a spell slot, this one has a cooldown, this one uses another type of resource that's kinda like spell slots but not actually the same thing"
hell when the game gave me a cleric, I thought that mf was the tank cause they had a damn mace and actual armor didn't realize they were the fucking HEALER until later when I accidentally hovered over the portrait and it said so

In standard 5e there's a bunch of magic subclass options for Rogues I've been keeping a fair distance from Baldur's Gate to keep it new and exciting for me, but there's probably some good options for magic as a Rogue without needing to finesse a multiclass 5e isn't really terribly multiclass-friendly anyway, compared to systems like Pathfinder

D&D was great tonight though I intentionally killed an exploding enemy to kill another enemy. I was right in front of the explosive one and expected to make the save and take no damage. I had a 95% chance of taking zero damage but rolled a natural 1. So it literally and figuratively blew up in my face.

The wizard, Gale, being a sort of dedicated lore dumper is pretty nice though, very in-character for a wizard I really like the actual d20 rolling you do for lockpicking and stuff too, this game's got a lotta little things that really make it pop There's even Fashions'n'Dragons, I have already appropriated the cleric's incredible outfit for myself

>>1093791 don't know if you're still having the problem sometimes if you move within a certain distance (i.e. a 7m or so radius from the general area of the group) the other grouped characters will just kinda stand there ) did you ever get it fixed? >>1093886 i think it might depend on how you go about it in one of my playthroughs concurrently running i revealed kagha to be acting under the influence of the shadow druids, with the goal of converting the entire grove to their will and afterwards most of the druids were like "oh god i can't believe we were about to do something so terrible to those poor tieflings" i think there's also routes that end up with you supporting the shadow druids and /or working alongside the followers of the Absolute
interesting i killed all the gobbos so that the tieflings could leave safely and brought halsin back, and all the druids were still angry about the tieflings even though someone sympathetic to them was made first druid and kagha was removed i'm doing a dark urge run for this concurrent game so im going to side with the absolute guys this time and see what happens

yeah i think if the shadow druid influence isn't discovered, the d ruids don't change their minds. figures, the druids in that circle are weak willed sheep as i see it. no surprise halsin hesitates very little in replacing himself and setting out again
dark urge is really fun, i enjoy the little plot developments

ah yes the first time i slew her, i noticed the special harp and i think she has like an alchemy pouch and supply bag as well. i think there's a bunch of companions you only get if you're following the absolute there's a _ton_ of interactions that you only get if you're a drow or more specifically a lolth-sworn drow as well

i usually DM which i feel like has changed how i interact with stories as weird as that sounds and not necessarily in a good way but like i was playing kingmaker and i was just like "oh i really dont like the way theyre handling such-and-such"

oh no i absolutely understand having DM'd (and wrote an entire campaign from scratch, complete with NPCs and towns and dungeons and setpiece events) i can't look at anything the same anymore it took me a little to get invested in Pillars but i found myself enjoying it it's very possible i'll come to a similar conclusion with kingmaker though i do very much love the way larian has done BG3 though, and will likely take a lot of inspiration from it when I DM in the future i'll also definitely be using a bunch of the rule shortcuts they implemented to translate 5E's combat over to a video game and other systems
there are also some 5.5e aspects to it like the weapons each having abilities associated with them that come from the weapons
i am looking forward to 5.5e even though i wasnt big on 5e pathfinder 2.5e looks good but i didnt really like 2e either

ah I see i think that's a smart choice I really don't think 5E is innately bad, just had some questionable facets at it's core, it's just an easy to use s20 system so hopefully the changes will be good ones, i'll have to look into it
if i were going to introduce a new person to a tabletop game i'd rather introduce them to pathfinder 2e than dnd 5e although there are a lot more resources for 5e i think pf2e has a better selection of classes
although they're removing alignment entirely in pf2.5e and i'm a little worried about that because alignment is a very important gameplay mechanic for demons and devils which are two of my favorite types i'm running a campaign focusing on demons starting today actually

I had half a mind to do something like that with Satomi, but I got kind of overwhelmed learrning all the intricacies of Pathfinder, and there ended up being a bunch of damage-focused members of the party anyway, so healing/utility ended up being the smarter choice
