that and it's just good practice to swap them out between winter and summer time so you don't suddenly end up in the shitty position of having worn out tires and only one set of them

it is, however, also obviously not legal to use summer tires once it's icy and shitty on the road cause spikes may fuck up the road, but that's nothing compared to the extreme danger of simply being unable to fucking stop if you're doing anything over 30km/h
there's this big, steep fuckin' climb of a road in the middle of town here, and basically every damn winter somebody or other gets stuck unable to ascend because they're on summer tires or their winter tires are worn the hell out, so they just spin like crazy and usually end up sliding back down that or, you know, the worse alternative, being unable to stop as they're coming down it, so they go straight out into the fucking road like an asshole
though, to my knowledge, there's rarely any accidents as a result, I've at least not heard of any I guess everyone who drives around here is kinda aware that they gotta be careful around that particular stretch in the early days of winter cause there's always fuckin' someone

Yeah, regular snow tires are usually fine I just prefer the spikes cause it gives an extra sense of security, real or imagined, and besides they came with the car I do sorta imagine they're a bit more wear-proof though, on account of the spikes wearing out slower than rubber does, probably winter sucks fucking ass around here, so it's nice to have them at least
