I've been rewatching 3-gatsu no Lion lately
I hadn't really forgotten but it's nice to be reminded just how great that series is
Especially from an animation and directorial standpoint I think it's SHAFT's modern magnum opus

The next episode I've got up should introduce Shimada to Rei

At least Souma is on board with ending slavery in his kingdom
He can be a bit fuzzy at times on ethicial ruling versus pragmatic ruling

i recognize and respect that they managed to approach the topic without it being an absolute fucking mess
but i still think it's a far cry from what i'd hope for
and i don't entirely recognize the necessity, if learning that slavery even existed in the world was part of the opening of this episode and not something that had been part of the series
the necessity for implementing the subject at all
i feel rather indifferent in the end, towards this episode

The frequency that slavery pops up in isekai, especially sex slavery, always makes me a bit uncomfortable
Because when they try to romanticize it, or somehow rationalize it
It's hard not to put it up against the real life slavery and sex slavery that the Japanese forced the Chinese and other civilian prisoners through in WWII

Fish are generally attracted to things like waterfalls and waterspouts where a bit of white water forms
Although I can't quite remember the exact reasoning
I think it was either the higher oxygen content in the water attracts them, or the patter of water on the water surface reminds them of things like bugs and other things to eat
The latter is also true for why fishing is good to do when it's raining

koi's introspection is my favorite part about this show

Going all the way to Hokkaido for a fishing and camping trip would be pretty fun
But yeah, it's a bit more wild out there than central Japan

Shallow rivers like that are pretty soothing for me
I like the sound they produce

I knew they like to bite when it rains but didn't know why
im sure they think it's stuff falling into the water

Yeah, like I said, it reminds them of bugs and other stuff
Triggers their brains to go see if it's food
Most fish aren't particularly smart creatures

relaxing in an onsen sounds really nice

I'd take just relaxing in a bath too
