I was thinking bragging about buying out cabbage was kind of a pathetic boast for wannabe Yakuza But I guess their boss is well aware of it
i love lappland
those foldable phones seem cool but also i feel like i'd break one pretty fast
Anno
Man those abs
>>1016814 They're kind of a hard sell on me Both because I doubt their durability and the size feels unwieldy for a phone
i love lappland
it doesn't help that they're prohibitively expensive i might not mind the size so much if i had a desk job might get annoying at my job right now though the durability is the real kicker for me
Anno
Although I also learned recently that the probably instinctive way to hold your phone, with the bottom of it supported with your pinky finger, is actually really bad for your hand's muscles It fucks with a specific set of muscles and can potentially cause long-term pain Since then I've been trying to hold my phone with two hands anyway, so maybe the unwieldy problem isn't really such a big deal
Anno
they break all the time
i love lappland
>with that rod that looks like a crowbar that IS a crowbar what the hell was that about
Anno
I think that's a kind of humour that pops up occasionally in Japanese media It's not the first time I've heard a joke with that set up
That's true, tornadoes don't happen there I wonder if there's an enemy out there doing that stuff
Anno
Maybe there's some kind of irony Like the fact that they've made a whole artificial landmass in the bay messes with air patterns and has increased the possibility of tornadoes But the pre-existing weather right now, a nice, cloudless day with no apparent excessive wind, doesn't really imply a tornado will naturally form
I suspect it's an artificially-created tornad-
What
i love lappland
is a tornado really gonna happen? i'm a little confused i feel like this is a trick or something
i love lappland
oh wow
i love lappland
what the hell
Anno
Blue's powered up state from whatever this is definitely is the most intense The other two just kinda have improved athletics and a heightened state of thought Blue gets fully on superhuman strength
no no no no no NO NO NO NO NO NO NO HE WAS SHOWING DEATH FLAGS EARLIER AND I FELT IT NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Anno
That's probably really going to fuck with Kozue She was the one that Asumi died trying to rescue too And now the first time she tried not being a hikki Her dad dies
i love lappland
not like this....
i love lappland
ummm alright well this show just got a bit different
Anno
They've got red, blue, and yellow motifs on the mask A bit different from RGB, but RBY is also considered another primary colour trio
i didn't want kaba to die he was a good guy but when he was leaving his house earlier i was like "oh god i hope he's not about to get whacked or something" this isn't how i thought he'd die i was hoping he wasn't gonna die at all
I kinda had a feeling some enemmies were behind it
okay koroshi okay lets start
Anno
Same really The masked person also used the same quote Asumi uses when prompting RGB to take action So she, or whoever/whatever's using her voice, is either working in conjunction with this masked person Or knows what they're trying to do and is working to stop it
It's not really serial killing if you're making a business out of it
Anno
Quite a lengthy flashback for stuff that happened in the first episode
i love lappland
no op though? flashbacks are the most effective as tools of first-time viewer retention more than anything else, specifically on the second and third episodes in fact they mostly only serve that purpose so oh OP time hmm hard to tell then i thought maybe they sac'd the OP for the flashback
Anno
Poor guy Can't even get a minute
Anno
Oh yeah Blackberry phones Feels really weird seeing them in 2022
Anno
Hah hah hah She's pretty metal Gets her tire shot out and her first impulse is to ram the guy
Anno
Well now don't go killing innocent civilians
i love lappland
normally that would be a good way to translate what he said but there it would probably be better to use the more literal sense of the word
... Is the woman who was in the car with her all right? Surely you should try and get her out of the car if she's not dead
i love lappland
i'm assuming she's entered the pancake dimension
Anno
Oh the truck driver's not dead at least Just a little inconvenienced
i love lappland
that looked like a rib breaker
Anno
She's not very good at the part of the job where she needs to go up against veteran assassins I guess she is a rookie to the scene though
Anno
Man now she needs to get a new phone What good is doing that
Anno
Well I guess that answers my previous question
Anno
Turtlenecks are great Very cute choice of fashion
i love lappland
this show has a certain vibe to it that reminds me of live-action tv dramas or thrillers it's anime but not very anime just a little bit here and there
Anno
I wouldn't be surprised if, if not intentional, it's a creative inspiration for the writer Especially with the western setting of the series, I get the feeling the writer's watched a lot of American dramas
It's a bit funny that the bit of text at the start of the episode saying how it's a work of fiction and the characters aren't meant to represent any real-world people gets subbed as "This is a work of fiction ..." We all know what it's saying so no need to subtitle it all
Anno
She really has a tendency to speak kind of harshly to people At least when it won't be a job complaint to do so
i love lappland
you know i never thought about that
Anno
I can kind of understand where she's coming from Crime is still inadvisable, but she does have a somewhat sympathetic viewpoint
i love lappland
wait why are there so many old lady villains what the hell
Looks like yeah, they were looking for bedsores. You can stave off bedsores with good care but they're pretty hard to battle.
Anno
That kind of bow-legged way Japanese delinquents walk always kinds of gets me It looks goofy
i love lappland
imagine // i imagine dealing with someone who is in their last days takes a really terrible toll on someone i don't want to think about how awful that must be
oh wait so they dont' exist in a video game world only she does?
Anno
Seems like it's a Log Horizon situation The only people with the ability to interface with the game's mechanics are the player characters Just that so far she's the only player character we've seen
Anno
Kid's honest when it comes to food at least
i love lappland
so much slobber
i love lappland
HITOGAMI oh
Anno
The thought of MMO services ending is always a bit sad Even to the end there's almost always people who are fond of the game
I think you just enjoy playing with all the k's in this title's name
Anno
Oh yeah he thrashed a demon at the end of the first episode And almost got caught up being a landed lord for his efforts
Anno
>All the rights to the resources in the kingdom's dungeons That feels like an excessively big ask, even if he did kill some kind of serious evil But I guess he was banking on them not knowing how valuable it was And it paid off
wow he got appointed leader of the fight agianst the demons
Anno
Yeah This series feels like it has a lot of the kind of corny power-tripping that some isekai are prone too
Anno
For such a cute girl she has a somewhat brutish approach to things Enchanting weapons so that you can just smash through walls is a fairly straightforward apporach
I'm pretty sure the genre is still going strong in Japan That's not particularly a problem for me but I would rather something a bit, hm Well-written's not quite what I'm trying to say here But there's silly, power-trippy isekai which are fun and fulfilling to watch And this doesn't quite hit that spot
