It's kind of funny how much of a change-up Part Five was Although I guess aside from returning characters, Part Four was a bit of a change too But Part Five has basically no returning characters aside from a literally five-minute cameo by Koichi And Giorno was barely a JoJo by a weird biological technicality

Oh we were just seeing the dream from Jotaro's perspective I thought it was going to be a dream-in-a-dream situation
Oh maybe the second disc is his life One for Star Platinum, one for Jotaro
When the two discs first popped out of him I thought it was one for each of Star Platinum's abilities Since he kinda takes on DIO's Za Warudo too But I guess Star Platinum never actually had an ability before it began to mirror Za Warudo's time-stop ability It was only really good for punching things
Araki really developed a kind of fascination with murder mystery killers for a while We had the mystery and reveal of Kira in Diamond is Unbreakable, and the phantom leader of the mafia in Vento Aureo And now some Stand user who's Stand is practically a full-on character itself
After the pretty transparent villains for the first three parts, he seemed to swing more into a suspense mood, making the reader wonder who the big bad might be

Oh they did change her name a bit Or maybe it was just how they localized it in fan translations When I'd seen her name before, she was called Hermes But she was named for a fashion brand, since Araki is a big fan of high fashion So they probably changed her name in official localization to Ermes to avoid complaints Although Hermes should really be a name anyone can use at this point

In case it wasn't clear from the design, Ermes' Stand is called KISS Like the band I wonder if it got a particularly large change (to Smack) because KISS are known to be particularly litigious about their image But it might also be there's no good way to change Kiss to something which is conceptually similar while sounding similar Jolyne at least got to keep the Stone part of Stone Free in the legal-proofing of her Stand's name
I think it's kind of poignant that Araki chose CD discs for the materialization of people's souls Music is a really important thing for Araki, and for a lot of his life, CDs were probably the main means through what he listened to music through It seems goofy on the surface, but I think he probably does earnestly consider them as a very reasonable thing to embody one's soul in
what sense does that make he hit it while standig right next to her

I think in the Japanese credits, White Snake's seiyuu is credited as ??? I wonder why they did that Maybe because its user will share the same seiyuu and they don't want to make that connection obvious when the user eventually shows up
Man I think it was easy to neglect because the previous JoJo parts have been fairly heavily censored But this series is actually really grotesque at times

It's also kinda-unfortunately not really a surprise for me I haven't read Stone Ocean but I've been familiar with its villain and some plot beats for a long time now Most of it is visually still a surprise for me though Seeing Foo Fighters in action was pretty fun

A whole night of JoJo, gosh We probably won't get around to wrapping it up, providing Bang's around tomorrow night for some of his shows But hopefully the anime of the new year doesn't start off too heavy and we can do clean up for at least Stone Ocean
